Queen with Adam Lambert to Headline Sonisphere Festival at Knebworth Park

With a quarter of a century having since passed, rock legends Queen are to return to play a second concert at the venue that provided them with the setting for one of their biggest and most historic concerts.

Queens Brian May and Roger Taylor today confirmed the band will headline the second day of this years Sonisphere Festival appearing at the festival home ground Knebworth Park, Stevenage, on Saturday July 7.

Knebworth was the setting for Queens final concert with Freddie Mercury in August 1986.

May and Taylor also confirmed that for this special one-off concert the bands only UK concert appearance in 2012 they will be joined by US singer-songwriter Adam Lambert.

Since first encountering each other during American Idol Season 8 in May 2009 where Lambert joined the band to perform "We Are the Champions" the two have repeatedly hinted at a future collaboration, most recently with Taylor telling Billboard Magazine "He (Adam)has grown into a really great performer with an astonishing voice with a range that's great. We would like to work with him again. There's nothing signed just yet but it could be very exciting."

After their brief meeting on American Idol, the potent chemistry between Queen and Lambert finally broke the surface when at the invitation of Queens Brian May and Roger Taylor Lambert joined them for the closing showcase at the recent MTV Europe Awards where Queen were present to collect their Global Icon award.

Their eight minute MTVE set ignited an immediate reaction across the internet with social network sites buzzing with excitement and campaigning for a more formal union between Queen and Lambert. The Sonisphere 2012 Knebworth stage will at last provide an eager public the opportunity to see May, Taylor and Lambert delve deeper into exploring their very evident artistic appreciation of one another.

Says Brian May : Judging by my incoming mail, this decision will make a lot of people very happy. It's a worthy challenge for us, and I'm sure Adam would meet with Freddie's approval! And what better place to revisit, and walk those emotional paths than Knebworth ? It will be a rush.

Lambert adds: I'm completely in awe of the Queen phenomenon. The thought of sharing the stage for a full set is so beautifully surreal. I'm honoured to be able to pay my respects to Freddie's memory. He's a personal hero of mine and I am deeply grateful for the chance to sing such powerful music for fans of this legendary band. I know the evening will be a huge milestone for me, and with the support of Brian, Roger and the rest of the band I know magic will be on display.

s previous performance at Knebworth Park, close on twenty-six years ago , August 9, 1986, was set up to be the glorious last stop for the bands monstrously successful Magic Tour which had spread out across Europe over eight weeks of that summer. Over a million people had already paid to see them.

Now riding one of the highest crests in their career, Queen drew a record crowd of 120,000, their biggest ever UK audience. Coming on the back of two stunning shows at Wembley Stadium - to this day regarded as among their finest performances - anticipation was high.

Queen delivered the goods, winding up the crowd by arriving above their heads in a custom decorated helicopter, and then going on to perform a Queen textbook set to a deliriously enthusiastic audience, winding up with an emotional God Save the Queen and Freddie wishing his audience sweet dreams.

A baby was born during the show and departing fans created one of the biggest traffic jams in British recorded history.

What no-one in that Knebworth Park audience, and as far as we know , not even the band could anticipate that day, was that a new chapter in Queens history was being written: after more than 700 concerts together, what was taking place was the very last live concert of Freddie Mercury with Queen.

With the exception of an appearance in 1988 with Spanish operatic soprano Montserrat Caballe to launch Barcelonas successful bid for the 1992 Olympic Games performing their duet , Mercury would never again be seen performing to a public audience.

On what will undoubtedly rate as one of this summers most highly anticipated and emotionally charged concerts Queens Roger Taylor says: "I remember Knebworth as being the most incredible gig, with the most amazing audience and the sound on stage was utterly perfect. It was a fitting last stand before a live audience for Freddie. It will be a real challenge to complete the circle by returning with Adam."

Did Adam's Fans Give Him a Birthday Gift?

The full audio for "Better Than I Know Myself" was posted to VEVO and You Tube on December 16. Shortly thereafter, Adam's fans set a goal to get it to 1 million views by his birthday, as a "gift" to him. Well, Adam's birthday was this past Sunday, so how did it go?

His BTIKM video (audio) reached over 2 million views....IF you combine the view counts from theofficial VEVO channelwith the view counts fromYou Tube.

Could this be an indication of how the video will do when it is released on February 3? If you look at the view count for the Behind the Scenes footage of the video, which was just posted on Friday, that might be an even better indicator. It's already approaching 1 million views on both VEVO and You Tube. It appears Adam's fans might be getting some help on this one, which shows signs of a lot of interest. Looks like it's gonna be a sure fire winner!

Ive missed you! Im so so sorry that Ive been away so long, but Ive been incredibly focused on making and recording my new album, which as many of your know, is called Trespassing. Its been such an exciting journey into the full writing and production process, but also overwhelming and time consuming.

The last few years have been such a transformative time for me. I've had such amazing adventures touring the world and wanted to create songs that captured the insane joy of my wildest nights. I also wanted to create music that explored the sometimes dark flipside to such happiness. I feel all people struggle with both a light and dark side and I want to invite you all to trespass into my heart and understand how I find a balance between the two.

Youve gotten your first taste of the album with the first single Better Than I Know Myself. Thanks to all of you for your overwhelming love and support for the song, it means so much to me because the song resonates deeply for me. Billboard released their "Year in Music 2011" rankings over the weekend, and it was good news for Adam and his fans! The Glam Nation Live DVD, which was taped in Indianapolis, IN during the Glam Nation Tour, came in at #12 for Music Video sales! It will take sales of 50,000 copies for GNL to be certified gold. At last report, it had around 44,000.

Adam Making Return to AMA Stage

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Adam will be making his return to the American Music Awards Stage. He has been invited back to present an award on the show which will air at 8:00pm EST on ABC Television. He will be seated in the second row in an aisle seat, behind Heidi Klum.

Even though Larry Klein, American Music Awards executive producer, says that Adam was never banned by ABC after his controversial performance of "For Your Entertainment" in 2009, his appearances scheduled for Good Morning America and Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve were cancelled. This is just one indication that Adam can no longer be ignored - especially after his exceptional performance with Queen on the European Music Awards two weeks ago.

Adam took to Twitter to let his fans know how he feels about this appearance: "Excited to present at the AMA's tomorrow! tune in!"

Adam to Appear on the EMA's Sunday

Adam tweeted to his more than 1.2 million followers: "Make sure you tune in to the EMA's this Sunday." This led to an influx of questions from his fans wanting to know why. He later responded to a fan who had asked if he was going to make an appearance, "oh I'm going to be there and more. ;)," which resulted in even more questions. Would he be there to make a presentation or do a performance - maybe debut the first single from his sophomore album? After being bombarded with questions of this type, he sent a third tweet teasing his adoring fans, "Question questions... Just tune in and see! Trust it'll be worth it! :) MTV EMA's!"

So what's it going to be, a presentation or a performance? Or could it possibly be THE Event of the Year? Not a performance of his single, but rather a performance with the legendary rock band Queen? Confused?

In a press release last month, it was announced that Queen will be presented with the "Global Icon Award" at the 2011 MTV EMA's and will take the stage for a special performance! Is it possible that Adam might take the stage with them to provide the lead vocals?!!! It's not as far-fetched as some might think. In 2009 during the American Idol finale, Adam performed "We Are the Champions", along with Kris Allen, while being backed by Queen. It was rumored afterward that Adam was going to be the new lead singer. He shot down that rumor saying the offer was never made, but they did talk about a possible collaboration in the future. Maybe this is it!

The 2011 MTV EMA's, hosted by Selena Gomez, will be held on November 6 at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland. This could be history in the making, so like Adam said, "make sure you tune in". The annual event will be broadcast live on MTV3 and MuchMusic. MTV streamed their second "O Music Awards" show Monday night. Demi Lovato presented Adam with the award for "Must Follow Artist on Twitter". During his acceptance speech, which was pre-recorded while in the studio with Nile Rodgers, Adam said, Thank you for indulging me and letting me ramble on and on about who knows what every day". He beat out some tough competition, including Lady Gaga and Justin Beiber, for the honor.

Within minutes after Adam's win was announced, he thanked his fans via Twitter (of course!). "Wow! Won @MTV Must Follow Artist on Twitter! http://omusicawards.com only thanks to all of YOU! Thanks!!! The support means so much! #MTVOMA"

From a blog on MTV's website: "The Glamberts have rallied hard this O Music Awards. Not only did they manage to get Adam Lambert included in the category of Must-Follow Artist on Twitter during open nominations, theyve also scored him a win." They described his fans as "adoring and extremely powerful". MTV also tweeted: "You following @AdamLambert on Twitter? He just won Must Follow Artist on Twitter! #MTVOMA."

As mentioned by MTV in their blog, Adam wasn't originally nominated for "Must Follow Artist on Twitter". His fans rallied to include him in the category via a write-in option that MTV had provided. He was later added to the official list of nominees and his fans worked hard to secure him the win. Adam often takes to twitter to leave little tidbits about his sophomore album or hold impromptu Twitter parties with his fans, as well as promoting other artists.

Prior to the Award Show, MTV held a Dance Party Marathon in which people could donate money towards charity as part of the event. They had a competition to see which Fan Army could raise the most money. The goal was to raise $25,000; $32,470 was raised! A large portion, $30,000, was donated by MTVOMA leaving a total of $2,470 raised by Team & General donations, of that amount $2100 was raised by Adam Lamberts Glambert Fan Army Team!

Adam recently tweeted some much anticipated news concerning his upcoming new music. There was some good news concerning release of the first single: "I'm 90% sure the first single will be out next month (ish) :)", along with the announcement that his sophomore album will not be coming out until 2012, stating, "There is still lots of work to be done but I promise: you won't be disappointed!"

While we patiently (haha) await release of the new single, enjoy this video (by Fan Club member lambosessed)of "Outlaws of Love", which Adam has confirmed WILL be on the new album!

Hello Glamberts!

We know this statement has been a long time coming and we appreciate your patience! As you probably know, Adam has parted ways with 19 Entertainment. Because of this time of transition, we have not been able to solidify the new fan club renewal packages. We are working diligently to get this ironed out, but in the meantime, the following will hopefully clear up any questions you may have about renewing your Adam Lambert Fan Club membership.

Some questions from members:

I already ordered the Glitter membership because I didnt want the same items I received last year. Can it be changed?

Yes, you will be able to upgrade to Glam! We know some of you have chosen to purchase the Glitter membership because you werent comfortable purchasing Glam sight unseen (or thought it was the same as last year). And thats okay! Once we get the Glam package contents confirmed, we will offer an upgrade package should you decide you like the Glam merchandise.

Can international fans get the Glam membership without having the package shipped to them due to the shipping and import charges?

If you are an international fan and do not wish to receive package merchandise due to shipping and import costs, please purchase the Glitter membership.

Why was my renewal email for the Lifetime Subscription Ticket Chance + Free Calendar! subscription?

That was a glitch in our system. Please disregard.

Will there be any advantages to having the Glam membership versus the Glitter other than the merchandise?

Simply put, the Glitter membership is the same as the Glam without the merchandise.

Do you miss out on any emails or advance notice about ticket sales or other offers if you choose the Glitter rather than the Glam membership?

No way! All members get equal amounts of love!

If my membership was extended using the VIP laminate, will I still get the items?

Extensions received via the Glitz VIP are for the digital membership only. If you wish to receive the Glam merchandise, you can purchase the Upgrade when it becomes available.

I donated to Charity: water and havent received my signed photo!

Unfortunately, there is nothing that we can do at the moment. Although this wasnt run through ground(ctrl), were going to attempt to make it all right once this transition period is over and we get back into the full swing of things!

Adam to Present "Do Something Award"

DoSomething.org and VH1 announced the lineup of presenters for this year's 2011 "Do Something Awards" airing Thursday, August 18 on VH1, and Adam was among them!

It was previously confirmed that Adam would be attending; however, until yesterday it was unknown in what capacity he would be participating in the show. He is also nominated for the "Music Artist Do Something Award" for his support of various charities including, The Trevor Project, Charity:Water, DonorsChoose, and his participation in the It Gets Better project.

His nomination is due, in huge part, to his fans. He wasn't included on the original list to vote for nominees, but they put in their votes by writing in his name and tweeting their support to @DoSomething. Adam's fans were thrilled to find out they had done enough when his name was included in the final list of nominees, along with Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Nick Jonas, Linkin Park and The Black Eyed Peas.

World Premiere of "Outlaws of Love"

Adam debuted his new song "Outlaws of Love" at the Ste-Agathe en Feux Festival in Quebec, CanadaFriday night. Leading up to the show, fans were speculating about the possibility that he might perform a song off his upcoming sophomore album, and indeed Adam did give his fans a little "treat"!

"As you probably know, I have been working for the past couple of months," he said, as the crowd roared. "This is a song that will be on the new album. This is the world premiere ......All of the things I've been talking about over the past year, all of it boils down to acceptance and this is a song that I wrote about how it feels, that no matter where you go or where you turn, sometimes it feels like you're just running from the law."

He sat on a stool and performed the song in an acoustic setting accompanied by his guitarist, Monte Pittman, and belted out the powerful ballad with inspirational lyrics.

Later Adam let his fans know via Twitter, that this will NOT be his first single, but indeed it will be on his forthcoming album. While they were already excited about his new release, they are even more anxious after hearing this beautiful, yet heart-wrenching song.

Adam Named as a Mentor for New Show

Adam has been named as a mentor for the new reality show "Majors and Minors". The new series will feature established singing stars such as Adam, mentoring and guiding young hopefuls aged 10 to 16 years old. One lucky winner will walk away with a recording deal with Sonys RCA/JIVE.

Adam will be joining fellow artists Avril Lavigne, Colbie Callait, Leona Lewis, Jordin Sparks, Sean Kingston, Ryan Tedder, and more. The show will premiere on September 23.
